This exhibition explores the theme of human-plant relationships through the study of bio-signals. Mimosa pudica serves as a model organism in this field, as its swollen pulvinus at the base of its leaves possesses an extraordinary sensitivity to environmental stimuli—far beyond what humans can imagine. By digitizing the plant’s bioelectrical potentials through sensors, these signals can travel across individual plants or even species, linking every plant in the garden into a vast cyborg-like Internet of Things.
A Glimpse of Flora invites viewers to interact with the plants step by step. In becoming part of this interconnected network, they come to understand the scientific contexts that inspire artistic expression, ultimately reflecting on the relationship between themselves and other species within the natural world.
